the velvet underground

by Rachel Lynch

You know her life was saved by rock and roll. And if rock and roll had taught her anything, it was that things were okay in their imperfection. Nothing had to be so matter-of-fact. The sensible, realistic world in which others dwelled was not her own. The music taught her that it was okay to let her hair down, to mess things up. The stories we tell in between the things we do, the times we notice its okay to let things ride.

We make magic in the moments we are not intending to create anything at all. The spark of inspiration that comes when we let go.

This was the world she was learning to live in, the wild, eccentric, belief that everything will be ok.
