queen of the fall

by Rachel Lynch

I don't mind losing a man to himself. The quiet is better than the empty sounds. Walking through Soho, I don't want to get over you.

And I don't mind shaking your hand at the door. We wake in my apartment and hold ourselves together by strings. Rolling stones. Dancing all night before the light floods the room in the morning. You were always weird, but I never had to hold you by the edges like I do now.

I better get my shit together, better gather my shit. Thigh-highs and black ribbons. All dolled-up in straps. And I'm free now.

I missed you before I saw you. And my fingers are always cold now. Stuck inside my pockets on the way to the subway. A careful heart in Brooklyn. Three days haze, empty and broken. Even the sky cries.

And the sky cries more than me, because I don't cry. Haven't yet. And I'm waiting for the breakdown. I'm waiting to write the apartment story. But nothing's coming - no tears, no words. Just indifference. And an inherent need to not eat. An emptiness that keeps me floating.

But the freedom is so divine, it drowns the pandemonium. Anything to avoid the fall back to you.

so so happy

by Rachel Lynch

Do what makes you happy. Do what you're good at. No many people are so lucky as to be good at something. Keep the good memories. A good memory can take you out of your darkest times. It can take down the walls and unfold the truth, and I hope you still recognize the person you see there.

Springtime in Missguided

by Rachel Lynch

Aside from black and white, I find tan an acceptable color for all of this overcast/rainy/semi-cold/heart-wrenching leftover NYC "spring" weather. I don't know. It's like raining everyday here so obviously, I'm wearing a big black hat always (my new hat is huge just you wait and see) and black clothing to match is acceptable. It's hard to get all cute to get on the subway and run around Brooklyn and the Village, when you know it's just going to rain in 3 hours. But hey, that's NYC life & until I move my ass to LA (which is always an option) I really shouldn't be complaining so much.

~ avoiding you ~

by Rachel Lynch

Always a big spot in my heart for Chi Flo. They send me this adorable top a few weeks ago that I shot in the East Village with my good friend Emma. I paired it with this amazing black and white fur jacket from Civil Clothing and some bell bottoms. I hope you guys all pick up this crop top and rock it for summer in much warmer weather than we've been having here!

on the fringe

by Rachel Lynch

Here's the second look I pulled from Karen Millen. I'm in lust with this fringe leather jacket. Probably one of their best jackets in the store right now, it's so in right now. I want to pair it with everything in my closet (including all of my hats!) The pants I pulled are awesome and very moto style, which I'm super in to right now. Most of my pants are leather or moto styled. I feel like they're a strong statement, especially when you just want to wear a basic white tee on top. I love wearing my moto leather pants with a basic white tee and layered necklaces. It's a strong go to look for day to day. Especially if you pair it with a good jacket or hat like I've paired it with above.

And of course, my Coach bag makes another appearance. I've been using it every day, it's small black leather frame fits with all my day-to-day looks.

What are you guys wearing for spring? Still sticking to black and white or trying to fit some color in there?

Spring Stripes

by Rachel Lynch

Last week I headed up to the Karen Millen 5th Avenue store to pull some pieces to feature on my blog. They have an amazing array of jeans, tees and leather jackets. My favorite pieces are most definitely their leather pieces. From teal (which you saw in my Nylon X Lord and Taylor feature) to black, to fringe, to pink.. you can find any color leather jacket you could dream of at Karen Millen. I'm always in search of the next perfect leather jacket, it's like I can never get enough of what I already have. The leather jacket is a piece you just keep replacing and accumulating more of (like shoes!)

But aside from the jacket, I really love all the different black skinny jeans and fits they have for this summer. As well as tee-shirts and basics. They're always getting new stuff in the store so I'll be excited to style some more looks once it gets a bit warmer.

Also very excited to let you guys know I'll be working with Coach. They send me this amazing black leather handbag. It's the perfect size and I'm gotten complimented on it every time I wear it out! It's just big enough to hold a book, a change of yoga clothes and a wallet. I love it! So excited to be working with them, they're doing amazing things for Spring!

much love
