love is your drug

by Rachel Lynch

Here's a little story I shot with some new pieces I picked from Nasty Gal, I'll include direct product links below. Emilynn Rose was in from LA, so I invited her over to my Soho loft last Sunday to shoot and run around my little block. It's inspiring to meet women like her, so young yet so successful. Her hustle is undeniable.

I'm obsessed with a few of these new pieces - the lolita choker, black stud jacket and this Cosmos jacket. Literally I ordered these three, and I knew they would be immediate staples in my wardrobe. You know those pieces you can wear so many different ways? I love the Cosmos jackets with a white tank and white denim. I've also thrown the black stud jean jacket over a vintage led zeppelin tee that I turned into a dress. So many ways to wear everything!

Anyways, I've got to head out and pick up some stuff before my flight to Trinidad tomorrow. I've got some huge travel coming up! Trinidad, Nicaragua and then Paris!! All before fashion week, can't wait!

it feels alright

by Rachel Lynch

Just another summer Friday in Soho. Afternoon photos and painting drift to a rock n roll show at Irving. Exchanging backstage passes and sneaking in. Always two disposable cameras ready to go in my little black bag. Magic tricks. Mini shorts and silver-studded jackets. Everyone around me added a depth of field that I would of never wanted denied. A lens through which to see, a means of leaving my own slant on reality. All of us fitfully believing that creating will keep us alive.

"There's so much beauty in the world, that's what got me in trouble in the first place." You know, people and places. Beautiful people, and endless destinations. No where takes my heart quite like New York though. It's not healthy, but I stay.

Sometimes you're so inside yourself, you can't step outside and see the character you've created. I think New York has a way of doing that to people. You'll feel pulled many ways at once, and then not remember why you chose a certain street in the first place. All you know is that you've been going down it forever, and any turn in another direction would cause mass panic.

So there you are, the character you've created alongside whoever and whatever authenticates that identity. Listening to Radkey, making evening plans, and writing lyrics on your wood desk. Staying out till 3AM each night because you never get tired anymore, and you want to see everything. You meet new people everyday, each one an artist in their own right. They'll be impressed that you live in Soho, and you'll secretly know you didn't do it on your own. But you let them paint your character however they wish, you're moldable, a muse in the making.

all the way up

by Rachel Lynch

The unsaid bond between who I am and what I do destroys everything else in it's path. My passion is the punch you feel. My manichean splitting of creativity and craft. The more you talk, the less the words mean.

Our breakup phase of separate beds often resulted in one shared bed in some swanky hotel. Cold white sheets and room service. You empowered my ride or die disposition in ways I could not articulate into the tangible. You know both the character I create, and the person I am. And I think you're in love with both.

"Trust your work," you would say. It's intoxicating when someone is so unapologetic in their demeanor. Writing out things I want to manifest from the universe, but living them before the pen hits the paper. I am constantly creating myself over and over again.

St. John said, "Our lives are an eloquent expression of our beliefs." And I guess you were down with the way I lived mine. Apologizes from you in my DM, and I'm always down to let it go. It's not the snake-bite that kills you, but the venom that flows through your veins thereafter.

It's Saturday night, I'm about to be 25. I'm tucked up in a suite on west 53rd street filled with pink roses and designer clothes. The woman that delivered the first bottle of champagne said that Drake was just here last week.

Well I'm here now, and ready to fill the room with my crew. The ability to be exposed, to let go, and ride on your faults. You drift in, and swoop me.

Love or fascination, I don't know the difference.

where i keep my avocados

by Rachel Lynch

Got this dope jacket from INU INU sent to me last week, so you know I had to take it out for an adventure day in Bushwick. Scott and I wandered the main streets around Morgan Ave, and talked about life and adventure in New York all while enduring the heat. We went to a little spanish market right on the corner of where my old apartment used to me. They didn't mind us occupying the frozen aisle and throwing avocados in the air for a few snaps.

After shooting, we sat down at Forest Point for some champagne cocktails and guacamole. The only proper way to end a shoot day. Soon our table grew from 2 people to 10, and I got to see all my friends in the neighborhood and just relax for a little bit.

I HATE BLONDE X NYLON SHOP

by Rachel Lynch

I've been lucky enough to partner with NYLON on a bunch of fun things lately, including a movie premier, a photoshoot at their offices, a collaboration with their shop, and a party to celebrate the re-release of the Juicy Couture Track suit last night.

It's all happening.

Anyways, you can get the furry Rachel backpack here

I'm so excited for today, my painting easel is finally up in my office. I plan on opening the windows to listen to the Soho streets below & just work with color and get messy.

I hope you all have an amazing gorgeous day

i'm gonna take her down to mexico

by Rachel Lynch

Mexico has always been a very romantic place to me. I actually have about three favorite "mexico" songs if you will, and they are as follows:

- "My Old School" by Steely Dan

- "Mexico" by James Taylor

- "Going to Mexico" by Steve Miller Band

I always listen to these songs the day leading up to my trip, and on the plane. I don't know why I adore Mexico so much, perhaps it's all the hospitality and good food or the fact that I'm Catholic. Everyone just seems to always be willing to go out of their way for you. I wish I could be a little more like that.

Our first day in Mexico, we say the Diego Rivera mural in National Palace. Then we continued on to the largest Catholic Cathedral. There, I bought some rosaries for my family and close friends. We also saw inside Frida Khalo's beautiful blue home and then walked down the block to a local street food market. I swear when I'm in Mexico, I survive on guacamole, mango and tequila. Afterwards we went up to the Castillo de Chapultepec.

The second day of our trip we went to the Pyramids, and for some reason I wore heels. We also saw the Sumatra Museum and I was in perpetual exhaustion just looking to enter a guacamole coma ASAP.

I'm going to put links below to the two dresses I wore, for all of those asking for them!

blonde's birthday at the baccarat

Like every year, I just forget to take good photos at my birthday party. I believe that's a good sign  though.

However, here's a little bit of what I did capture on some disposable cameras.

Last look from my long and wonderful trip to LA, combining one of my favorite stripper shoes with a dope tee by Moschino.

I'm heading to NYLON Magazine this afternoon to shoot something cool in their studios, then off to a friend's house warming party in LES. It's hot as hell in New York right now, but I'm loving summer here.

bad omens

Walking on a pretty daze. Kurt Vile in my ears and Los Angeles in my heart. We took an afternoon ride down the sunset strip, the LA sun beating in through the car windows. I'm on a bit of a black coffee high, seeing everything like it was for the first time, but secretly comforted by the remembrance of it all.

I don't know why I'm here, and I don't know why I want to stay. All I know is that I like this summer drive, and I'm down for whatever.
